What a week! What a night!
Over a dozen fantastic short films, created over the last 5 days, right up to the last minute! A packed out event, loads of hollerin’ and clappin. Some great music too.
Ladies and gentleman of Liverpool and the wider film-making community, we have set the bar. Can we raise it? I think we’ll have a go soon enough!
A big round of applause to the film-makers who made such varied, personal, moving, challenging, funny, scary, fucked up, quality productions. We salute you!
Medals of honour also to all those who took part in the productions – the make up artists, musicians, volunteers, fairies, hustlers, fixers, and all the rest. We couldn’t have done it with out you.
Massive thanks to Liat, Chantelle, Nicky and all the staff at Toxteth TV, the kino base for the week.
Cheers for the Canvas boys for a great screening event and for continually flying the flag for short films in Liverpool.
Huge debt of gratitude to Open Culture and Charlotte Corrie for trusting us with their equipment. It was invaluable and vital. More open source film gera please!!!!!
Warmest embraces to the wider Kino community for your advice – Manchester Filmonik and Steve Balshaw, London’s Jamie Kennerly, Kino Berlino and the rest. We hope to develop these links properly in the coming year and become part of the Kino Family.
Finally, a gigantic roar of appreciation and thanks to FACT and AND festival for funding the adventure, and of course Kate Taylor and Gaby Jenks who cooked up the scheme, thought it would work, and roped in the dirty half-dozen for that initial meeting where they threw down the gauntlet.
The Liverpool Kino movement starts here!
